Today was a pretty lazy day, I started cleaning in my room, I watched two of my favorite movies ( The Little Mermaid and Tangled), and like I said, did not post the long post I wanted to for reasons I can't really explain. :)
So, I thought I'd share my thoughts on a verse and on tonight's Once upon a time episode ( 2x04). :D
I got a Bible app for my iPod a while back so that I could use it whenever I'm on the go, and do not happen to have my bible close at hand. Well, everyday as soon as I open the app there is a bible verse of the day. So today, I thought I'd comment on whatever verse popped up once I opened it. I was pumped, hoping it would be an 'easy' verse, but I opened it up this was there:
1 Timothy 4:8
"Pysical training is good, but training for godliness is much better promising benefits in this life and in the life to come."
At first glance, I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that one. Then I thought, and thought, and I had a few ideas and decided to just wing it.
So, in today's world there seems to be a whole lot of focus on "staying fit" and being in shape and being skinny. Heck, I cannot go on a single page on pinterest without finding something about weight loss. (Which is necessary I suppose, given all the cupcake, pie, brownie, cake and cinnamon bun recipes that show up in-between. Seriously, you can't be on there for ten minutes without feeling either hungry, fat, or both.*I really do love pinterest though, it is so amazing.*)
I've had people constantly tell me that I should lose weight. I am not obese, but I am over my ideal weight. Sometimes I look in the mirror and am happy with what I see, and other times, I see what everyone else in the world sees. Being fit is great and does wonders for your health and I would definitely love to get there personally one day in the future, but there are more important things.
Losing weight and 'training for godliness' seem very similar in a couple of ways to me. They both are paths that are sprinkled (food reference- not intentional) with various temptations,( * I'm talking to you Cinnabon*) and obstacles, people pushing you down and people pulling you up. You also can't accomplish either goal alone .
It is true that one clearly has more benefits over the other(training for godliness,
So... Onto Once upon a time...
So one of my best friends has been watching ABC's Once Upon a Time since it aired last year, and has been telling me, " You've gotta watch it, you'd love it!" knowing as she does of my love for fairytales.Well to be honest, my T.V. Series interests last year revolved mostly around Masterpiece Classics Downton Abbey, but that is a story for another day ( and another long post). I had seen commercials for Grimm, and I figured they were more or less the same and I wasn't interested in Grimm at all, so I never ended up watching it.
Well, one day a couple of weeks ago, I was sitting in my room surfing the web and I went on YouTube, and an urge came to see what this OUAT thing was all about, so I watched a few video clips from season 1 and my friend was right, Don't you hate that? I was hooked! ( no pun intended for those of you who have seen episode 4 of season 2)
I skowered the Internet for more info on the series. I went on ABC's website and watched the entire season 1 recap and episode 1 of season 2. So from now on, the void of 8:00-9:00 Sunday evenings has been once again filled since Downton Abbey will not return until January ( again, another day..) .
So I've been reserving a T.V. In the house every Sunday so I can watch. I really did like tonight's episode. Oh, and if you haven't seen this episode yet, I'd advise that you skip this part of the post. :)
*SPOILER ALERT* ( like this is a whole synopsis of the episode, type of spoiler)
The episode focused mainly on Rumpelstilskin/ Mr. Gold. It explained his past a bit more with the introduction of his wife Mila. It turns out she hated being married to a coward since Rumpel refused to fight in an ogre war and is 'kidnapped' by Captain Hook and his pirates. Rumpel refuses to duel Hook for her return and later is told that she is dead. After he becomes the dark one he goes back for his revenge on Hook, and challenges him to a duel and is about to kill him when Mila steps forward and pleads that he spare Hook's life since she is in love with him. She offers to trade him a magic bean in return for their lives, and he accepts the deal, asking to see the bean first. Rumpel feels betrayed, kills Mila and cuts off Hook's hand. Thus, Captain Hook as we know him is born.
Mr. Smee is also introduced in this episode, he seems to be after eternal life.
Meanwhile in Storybrooke, Rumple and Belle are having issues. Rumple still won't let Belle in and tell her the truth, so she runs away and goes to the library( geeky Disney movie accuracy moment, here) and is kidnapped by Smee for Belle's father. Belle refuses to let Rumple go, even though they are at odds and her father decides to send her through the tunnels over the county line so she will forget she ever knew Rumple let alone loved him( yes I did just borrow from Regina :) ). Belle does not go over the line, but does not want to see Rumple or her father again. She decides to stay at Grannie's with help from Ruby/Red and is gifted keys to the library by an anonymous person.
She goes in and of course, true to the disney movie, it's the 'beast' aka Rumple who gave her the library and he apologizes and tells her the truth, finally. Belle lightens up and offers to go to Grannies with Rumple one day and have a hamburger.
The final scenes involve Rumple interrogating Mr. Smee about the whereabouts of Captain Hook and a scene of Captain Hook who is currently with Quorra in the Fairytale world and they seem close to being able to go to Storybrooke. Hook for revenge upon Rumpelstilskin and Quorra for revenge on Regina and to 'see' Henry.
I left a few things out, but you can go watch the full episode online on ABC's website and check it out for yourselves. :)
I was shocked to see that Emma and Snow were not in this episode at all I definitely hope that there will be more on them in the next episode.
*SPOILER ALERT*
Oh and about episode 3, am I the only one who is so angry that Lancelot was killed? Personally, I hope that Quorra was lying and that
he is being held captive somewhere. I really liked him!
Well, this ended up being an insanely long post... Not quite sure how I went from planning to give you my thoughts on the episode to just summarizing it for you... Oh well, cest la vie! :)
So, tomorrow I will most likely post my collection or my wish list or ther upcoming things.
